1955 saw its first race, the SCCA battle between Sherwood Johnson and Phil Hill. The race ended with Hill barely victorious after the 148 mile battle. For over 50 years, all levels for races have attempted to conquer the lengthy 4.048 mile, 14 turn configuration.
