Just outside of Otavalo, Agato is a small village that is home to the Tahuantinsuyo Weaving Workshop. Here, four genrations continue the art of backstrap weaving that has been around for thousands of years, and perserve the vanishing art by passing it along to future genrations as well. Our host, Miguel, is just one of a handful of "backstrap" weavers remaining in Ecuador, and skillfully demonstrated the steps needed to produce such very high quality weavings.

Guayaquil is the main port to the Galapagos Islands. Interestingly, we didn't have to venture too far as parrots, spider monkeys and other animals were just feet away from our accommodations: the Hotel del Parque.
