El Capitan
Rising 3000 feet from the valley floor, El Capitan Vertical granite rock formation that has become a very challenging climber's paradise. Two and a half higher than the Empire State Building, it is also home to the Horsetail Falls located on the east side of El Capitan which rose to fame for appearing on fire with a red-orange glow at sunset for a short period between mid-February and late-February. Known as Firefall, clear weather is definitely the key element to witness this natural phenomenon. Interestingly, less than a week after our workshop, a large rockfall occured Monday, February 20th, 2023 on a portion of the cliff just below Horsetail Falls. Luckily is was reported not to affect the Firefall show.
