NORTH AMERICAN B-25 MITCHELL
Named to honor Brigadier General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer in U.S. military aviation and the father of the United States Air Force, the B-25 is a medium bomber serving in every theather of World War II. Operated by a five-man crew, the B-25 delivered a wide variety of fire power over its many upgrades, and to include a 3000 pound bomb load, rockets, 12-18 50 caliper machine guns and 75mm M4 (replaced by a lighter weight T13E1) canon. With the ability to also land and take-off from an aircraft carrier, the plane found famed as the platform led by Lieutenant Jimmy Doolittle attacking mainland Japan four months after the Pearl Harbor attack. Nearly 10,000 B-25s were manufactured.
NORTH AMERICAN B-25 MITCHELL "MISS HAP" s/n: 402168
"Miss Hap" represents one of the oldest B-25s still flying today, and one of the first B-25s to be deliverd to the USAAC (February 1941). It became the personal transport of USAAF Commander General Henry (Hap) Arnold during World War II. Seen here, the B-25 is covered with Hulu "Catch 22" vinyl advertising the mini-series on Hulu.
