McDONNELL DOUGLASS HORNET / BOEING F-18 SUPER HORNET
Designed and developed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop, the McDonnell Douglass F-18 Hornet is an all-weather, supersonic, twin-engine multi-role combet aircraft. This carrier-capable platform can be both a fighter and attack aircraft.
The Boeing F-18 Super Hornet is basically a super-sized version of the Hornet, and is a cutting-edge, next generation multi-role high performance tacticle aircraft. Despite weighting in at around 7,000 pounds heavier, the Super Hornet has doubled its range and is equipt with a reduced radar signature. Designed with 11 weapon stations, the Super Hornet can be configured to carry Sidewinder, Sparrow and other air-to-air missles, Guided air-to-ground weapons such as Harpoon, Maverick and armaments. Let us not forget the internal 20mm M61A2 rotary canon (lightweight Gatling gun).
