Built on the grounds of an earlier temple, the Pantheon is one of the best-preserved of all Ancient Roman buildings, largely due to its continuous use throughout its history. A former Roman temple and, since AD 609, a Catholic church (Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs) in Rome, its dome remains the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome, standing strong two thousand years later.
