CUSTER STATE PARK

Located in the Black Hills region of southwestern South Dakota, Custer State Park encompasses nearly 71,000 acres of varied terrain that includes granite peaks and rolling prairie grasslands. Offering plenty of space to hike, bike, and fish, the park also has an 18-mile Wildlife Loop Road for a paved scenic path through the park to see white-tailed deer, prairie dogs, pronghorns, elks, coyotes and many other animals calling the park home. Beware though of the herd of "Begging Donkeys" looking for a handout or one of the 1300 American Bison acting as a moving roadblock along the drive.
